Crane Maintenance
Contacts:

The Crane Maintenance Department is
responsible to maintain and enhance the cargo handling cranes of the Maryland
Port Administration, in an optimized state, which will provide productive,
reliable and safe operation for our customers.
This goal is accomplished by a work force of multi-talented electro-mechanical
crane technicians who maintain and oversee the operation of the cranes 24/7
schedule. This highly trained work force provides this service to the three
(3) marine terminals, which have cargo-handling cranes. To provide quality
service to our customers, when distances that prohibit quick response separate
the terminals, require that the personnel be assigned to one of four groups.
They are Dundalk Crane Maintenance, Seagirt Crane Maintenance, Locust Point
Crane Maintenance and the Crane Maintenance Support Group.
The
Dundalk Crane Maintenance Group provides service for the two (2) whirley, nine
(9) container and twelve (12) rubber-tired gantry cranes. They also provide
the necessary crane support for the cruise vessels.
The Seagirt Crane Maintenance Group provides service for the seven (7)
state-of-the-art container cranes located at the Seagirt Marine Terminal.

The Locust Point Crane Maintenance Group provides service for the two (2)
whirly and one (1) container crane located at the North Locust Point Marine
Terminal.
The Crane Maintenance Support Group provides the necessary personnel to
transport and position the 300-ton mobile crane. They also provide major
spreader repair work for the spreaders located at the three marine terminals
and assist by fabricating any structures or platforms needed by the crane
department, such as the gangway for the cruise vessels.
These
four teams provide a multi-talented work force, which is necessary to maintain
Baltimore as a major cargo port on the East Coast.
